Deloraine Eco Lodge Accommodation
Guest Bedrooms
There are three bedrooms available for guests in this lovely lodge near Deloraine in northern Tasmania. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. We can host up to 9 or 10 people travelling together in family groups.
The rooms are sympathetically designed and beautifully decorated with local artwork. Large fluffy towels, quality bed linen, handmade soaps and eco shampoo are features we think you will enjoy. Each bedroom has an external door directly onto a patio, ideal for sipping drinks and watching the sunset. Since the lodge is designed as a solar passive building the rooms are warm and sunny in the spring and autumn but well shaded in the summer. Because the sun is unpredictable in the winter we use an underfloor heating system to keep the rooms cosy and warm.
Lounge and Dining Area
The lounge and dining area is large and comfortable with 3 couches and 2 dining tables which fit together to accommodate a larger group.
The fittings and fixtures are all unique and the work of local artists is displayed throughout the house. The view of the Great Western Tiers mountains from the couches is magnificent.
The Kitchen
A fully equipped catering kitchen is available for guest use. There is a 900mm gas stove with gas oven, a slow combustion wood stove, a fridge, microwave and toaster and all the usual kitchen appliances as well as pots and pans. Crockery, cutlery, cups, mugs, serving platters and oven ware is all supplied. Stone bench tops and a well stocked pantry complete the picture. if you enjoy cooking this is your dream kitchen. However if you would like to sit back and be catered for we can do this too.
Facilities
Most appreciated is the peace and serenity of the surroundings, a retreat from modern life. Forest Walks Lodge is off the electricity grid and we generate all our own power, as well as hot water from the sun. There is a collection of natural history books about Tasmania and a few fiction books for guests to read. We have a few games and some baby toys. There is no television but we do have a collection of DVD’s if you have a computer to play them on.
Wildlife
The Lodge is surrounded by native wildlife including pademelons, wallabies, possums and many different types of birds. There are occasional platypus in the creek, echidnas roam the grassland during summer and devils, wombats and quolls are nocturnal visitors. We have dedicated our property as Land for Wildlife to protect the many species that live here.
